We have all heard of the phrase ‘power to the people’ but have you actually thought about just how important or how relevant today this famous phrase is if we are to achieve a more inclusive and prosperous society?
It is no secret that the successful communities are the ones where its members are included in all forms of important decision making and indeed are included more in their own community development. Why is it that we as a nation or, in particular, state and federal governments and their respective departments, have yet to learn from these worldwide successes?
Recently, we heard Prime Minister Malcom Turnbull ask this nation for more innovation and to support this national call to arms, he created the Minister for Innovation position. It is now time for all Federal and State Ministers to demand that their respective departments follow suit in this national call to arms and give the power back to the people.
