The past month has reaped significant milestones and achievements for KARI as an organisation. Firstly, we were thrilled to announce earlier in the month that KARI has been named as the official Indigenous community partner of the NSW Blues. We are very excited to have agreed to a long-term partnership, where a KARI team will be permanently based at the new Centre of Excellence in Olympic Park from December 2018. We truly value meaningful partnerships and we know that by working together we can make a real difference in the delivery of quality Indigenous programs across the state.
In this month’s news update you will read more about the establishment of our KARI Foundation and what the Foundation’s vision will mean for the future. The Foundation marks the start of an exciting new journey for KARI, where we can concentrate on the delivery of targeted new initiatives that we know will support real change for our community.
This month KARI was also the recipient of two major awards through the Australian Business Awards. KARI won across two categories – Outstanding Achievement and Community Contribution. This is a fantastic achievement and further reinforces our position as a leading Aboriginal service provider.
I would also like to acknowledge the young people in our Aboriginal Vocal Identification (VIP) who had their showcase concert last month. It’s great to see such spectacular talent coming from our community and I am very proud of the team who continue to deliver such a wonderful program year after year. I would like to make a special mention to two very special guests who were also in attendance on the night – his Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley and his wife, Mrs. Hurley.
