Throughout May 2026, the Greater Western Sydney Opportunity Hub team continued to support Aboriginal students through a range of cultural, educational and career-focused activities across the region. Through culture, community engagement and industry partnerships, the Greater Western Sydney Opportunity Hub continues to empower Aboriginal young people to explore opportunities, strengthen their aspirations and achieve their goals.
Students proudly celebrated and shared their culture at multicultural and international events held at Riverstone High School, Narwee Public School and Burwood Girls High School. These events provided opportunities for students to showcase traditional dance, music, cultural attire and knowledge, while strengthening cultural pride and promoting understanding within their school communities.
The team also supported students participating in the NSW Combined Catholic Colleges School Boys Trials, providing encouragement and support as they pursued sporting opportunities and represented their schools.
At Glenmore Park Public School, the Opportunity Hub team joined families, students and community members for a Community Afternoon Tea, where parents were invited to celebrate student achievements, engage with classroom activities and contribute ideas towards the development of a yarning circle within the school. The event highlighted the importance of strong partnerships between schools, families and community in supporting positive outcomes for Aboriginal students.
Beyond the school environment, the Opportunity Hub team continued to create pathways for future success by attending the TEXCO Charity Golf Day, building valuable relationships with industry representatives and potential employers. The team also played an active role in the KARI Foundation Aboriginal Employment Expo, connecting students with employers, training organisations and career opportunities to help them make informed decisions about their futures.
