The partnership between KARI and the South Sydney Rabbitohs continues to grow.
KARI have been announced as the official Rabbitohs Community Partner for the Club for 2017.
This partnership was reflected in the Rabbitohs’ 2017 Indigenous Round. Rabbitohs players wore an Indigenous jersey adorned with the KARI logo.
The Indigenous Jersey was designed by Indigenous artist, Joe Walker, and features all of the Indigenous totems of the players in the squad. The totems are connected together by a red and green link symbolising the unity between the players and the Club.
The jersey was worn twice. The first time it was worn was during the NRL Indigenous Round against the West Tigers in May. The jersey was worn again during the Rabbitohs’ Indigenous Round in July.
There was an array of activities during the Rabbitohs Indigenous Round to celebrate Aboriginal culture. These activities included:
- Face painters for the kids
- Didgeridoo players at the entrance to the stadium
The Greg Inglis wax figure from Madame Tussauds was also on display, wearing the KARI jersey, which was available for members to take photos with in the members bar.
Sunny Brar, a former employee of the club was also showcasing his The Face gallery. The Face is a photo gallery Sunny produced to celebrate Indigenous Australian Leaders in our community. Some examples of this are below.
