Air conditioning might not be the first thing you’d expect on a Year 6 wish list, but Glenmore Park Public School’s students are raising money for something they can leave behind: a cooler school hall.
Their end-of-year gift was the reason behind the fundraising stalls at the school’s Mini Fete, and our KARI GWS Opportunity Hub team went along to support the day.
We brought along our inflatable spear-throwing activity, with prizes up for grabs for students willing to test their aim. It soon became clear that some students weren’t going to settle for just one turn.
Staff helping at the stall said the kids kept coming back. Whether it was the lollies or the competition drawing them in was hard to tell, but there were plenty of familiar faces having another go.
For our newer Opportunity Hub staff supporting the activity, it was a lovely way to spend time getting to know the students and get involved in school life.
Thank you to Glenmore Park Public School for welcoming us along. We loved being part of the day and supporting Year 6 as they work towards a thoughtful gift for the students who follow them.
