KARI was proud to support of the 40th Anniversary Gala Dinner of the NSW Aboriginal Land Council. The NSW Aboriginal Land Council paid tribute to past Land Rights legends and celebrated the network’s achievements over the last 40 years. This was done at a Gala Dinner held at the ICC Sydney on Friday 29th September.
NSWALC Chair Roy Ah-See said the ‘40 Years Strong: Our Land Council Our Mob Our Future Gala’ Dinner recognised the efforts of more than 200 people who in October 1977 laid the foundation for Land Rights in New South Wales when they met at Redfern’s Black Theatre.
“The grassroots struggle for Land Rights started with this historic meeting in Redfern. Six years later, we have resulted in the best Land Rights system in Australia,” Cr Ah-See said.

About 1000 people attended the night of reflection and celebration. There was a variety of entertainment available from legendary rock act Coloured Stone, X Factor winner Isaiah Firebrace as well as Emma Donovan. The NAISDA Dance College also performed a special Land Rights dance.
“The generous support of our sponsors and supporters will help the Land Rights network celebrate a success story that contributes to the cultural, social and economic life of New South Wales,” Cr Ah-See said.
