As a way to celebrate NAIDOC Week, KARI staff participate in men’s and women’s business activities throughout the week, in order to truly involve themselves in Aboriginal culture. These initiatives were introduced for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous staff to learn more about Aboriginal culture and traditional activities.
This year’s activities consisted of Mates Puzzles, an Indigenous cooking and pampering session for women thanks to Sharon Windsor and Weapon making run by our very own Troy Dargan.
Each activity has its own way of expressing the important values in Aboriginal culture. Not only did staff get to walk away with their weapons and homemade bath salts and puzzle pieces, but they also walked away with further knowledge and understanding of what it means to be Aboriginal.
