KARI have supported the 2018 Aboriginal Student Achievement Awards by sponsoring an award called the KARI All Rounder Initiative Award.
The South West Sydney Aboriginal Student Achievement Awards is an annual event that showcases the achievements of Aboriginal students.
In 2012, KARI proposed for an existing incentive to be implemented into the existing awards. This was a way to combat the growth in the amount of students completing their studies.
Therefore, the KARI All Rounder Initiative Award was born. One student from the years K – 12 receive the award. In order to be considered for the award, the student must display achievements in all areas of their learning.
They are selected from nominations sent in by teachers throughout the year.
The gifts that students receive for this award are:
- Kindergarten to Year 6 receive a book pack to the value of $100
- Years 7 to 12 receive a gift voucher to the value of $100
KARI also committed an art supply pack or Eckersley’s gift card to Faith Plumb-Whitton. She won the SWS Region Art Competition.
Students can be nominated for a range of categories, which include:
- Culture, courage and commitment
- Literacy
- Numeracy
- Sporting achievements
- Attendance
- Leadership, citizenship and community services
- Creative and Performing Arts
- Community Acknowledgement
KARI are thankful that we were able to support the South Western Sydney Indigenous Community and their youth through these awards.
