KARI Foundation held our Corporate Golf Day on Wednesday 20th of March 2019. Fears it wouldn’t go ahead due to the weather were cast aside as the sky cleared, allowing for perfect golfing conditions amongst the picturesque views offered at The Coast Golf Club, Little Bay.
The competition was strong with over 60 corporates spread across 14 teams. It was an honour having elite sportsmen Latrell Mitchell (Sydney Roosters) attend, showing his skills stretch far beyond the sport of Rugby League. In a first for KARI, we had 4 women participate, a number we hope to see grow in our future golf days.
Upon arriving, each player was issued a unique KARI 2019 Golf Day shirt, designed specifically for the occasion. A BBQ breakfast was served to provide our players with fuel for the morning session before an 8am tee-off with a shotgun start.
The day was able to run smoothly as each team was assigned two golf carts, allowing players to move effortlessly from hole to hole. A complimentary bar cart made its way around the course, offering refreshments in an attempt to restore player’s energy.
At midday it was clear teams had finished on the course as they made their way to the clubhouse for refreshments and lunch. Corporates were able to reward themselves with their beverage vouchers, that were attached to their scorecard.
Lunch was served for all to enjoy before the commencement of the official presentation, with Club Menangle taking out overall champions for the day. Each player received a uniquely designed Didgeridoo, as well as a $150 Drummonds Golf voucher.

Our Club is a leader in the harness racing industry and KARI continues to be a leader in the support of indigenous communities. The Golf Day was a great opportunity to meet many other KARI partners and supporters. The professional way the event was conducted is typical of the way KARI operates,” said Bruce Christison, Chief Executive.
The Wests Tigers team came in a close second, with each player receiving a hand crafted boomerang on a stand as well as a $75 Drummonds Golf voucher.
Prizes were also awarded for novelty events, including longest drive and nearest to the pin, for both men and women. The women were able to share in the novelty prizes and walk away with half a dozen tailor made golf balls.
Our Corporate Golf Day is an event that allows current and potential partners of KARI to network, whilst enjoying a day on the green. It also provides an entertaining approach for businesses to learn more about KARI.
“This event allows us to bring together all of our corporates within the ‘KARI Family’ for a day of fun, competition and networking. We truly value each and every one of our partners and where possible provide them with the opportunity to meet likeminded partners. Overall the day was a huge success and we are looking forward to hosting the event again next year.” said Blake Ralph, Community Programs Project Officer.
