This year KARI operationalised and further resourced a dedicated Restoration Unit to support the reunification of children and young people with their birth families.
This team provides intensive case management to enable children and young people to return home and live with their parents.
The program has supported more than 35 children, young people and their respective families throughout the year. Our dedicated clinical team work closely with operational staff to provide therapeutic interventions for these families. It is with great pleasure we continue to successfully restore Aboriginal children and young people into the care of their immediate family.
To further support this, our Genealogy team has increased to four staff. They continue to identify and consult with family. This crucial work ensures KARI can source and assess family placement options.
It is also vital to supporting our children in maintaining meaningful relationships with family and kin.
