The 2026 Vocal Identification Program concluded with a concert on Friday 5 June at Liverpool Powerhouse, giving participants the opportunity to perform in front of a full theatre of family, friends and supporters.
Supported by the NSW Department of Education, the program helps students develop their vocal ability, confidence and stage presence, while also incorporating Aboriginal language and culture throughout the broader learning experience.
VIP is an annual program that has been running for more than 20 years. During that time, it has continued to give students opportunities to develop their performance skills, connect with Aboriginal language and culture, and grow in confidence.
The concert featured 14 individual performances, alongside the group opening performance, Spirit Walk, and an upbeat closing dance. Performing live gave each student the opportunity to step outside their comfort zone, express themselves creatively and recognise how far they had progressed throughout the program.
Several performances received standing ovations, reflecting the pride and encouragement surrounding the students. Each participant also received a certificate recognising their completion of the 2026 VIP program.
The concert marked an important milestone in the students’ personal and creative development, helping them build confidence, resilience and a stronger belief in their own abilities.
