The South West Sydney (SWS) Aboriginal Student Achievement Awards (ASAA) is an annual event that acknowledges the achievements of Aboriginal students and contributions by Aboriginal community members to Aboriginal Education in the SWS region. Recipients of these awards are nominated by their teachers in a range of categories including;
- Culture, courage and commitment
- Literacy
- Numeracy
- Sporting Achievements
- Attendance
- Leadership, citizenship and community services
- Creative and Performing Arts
- Community Acknowledgement
Before the award ceremonies commenced, KARI’s Vocal Identification Program (VIP) Singers performed the National Anthem in both Dharawal language and English.
KARI Foundation further supports the event by providing a KARI ‘All Rounder Initiative’ Award. This award recognises a student from each year (K-12) who excels in all areas of learning. The reward consists of a medallion, as well as a book pack for grades K-6 and a gift voucher for grades 7-12.

We would like to extend our congratulations to these students for their commendable achievements.
Following on from previous years, young people are encouraged to create and enter an artwork into a competition that will see the winning piece used for items such as invitations, booklets and other materials across the event. This year’s winner was Amelia Farndon, Bradbury Public School (Year 4). Amelia received a $250 Eckersley’s Arts Gift Card so she can continue to create amazing pieces at home.
