Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions, our local elders are unable to meet in their respective Elders’ groups who provide support to our Elders communities inclusive of social interaction, support and assistance in ensuring their ongoing needs are met.
In order to ease financial stress and ensure that our Elders have their basic needs covered, the Community Programs Team put together a hamper of essential items. The hampers included a large variety of items such as:
- Rice
- Pasta and Pasta sauces
- Coffee, Teabags and Sugar
- Tinned goods
- Cereals
- Recipe Bases
- Soups
Each hamper was delivered directly to our Elders at their homes by the Community Programs team. This was to ensure that social distancing requirements were met and the correct safety procedures were practiced. It also gave the Elders an opportunity to have some face to face contact with people outside of their homes. The feedback we received from our Elders was phenomenal, the Community Programs team were able to make a real difference to their current routines.
“We’re very thankful to have received these hampers”
“Thank you, KARI, for thinking of us”
“You have no idea how much this means to me and how grateful I am”
The Community Programs team also deliver hampers to our local elders at Christmas time, to reduce the stress and financial strain that often comes with the holidays. The Community Programs team are proud they have the ability to make such a difference to the lives of our local Elders communities, ensuring they’re taken care of.
