Harley Windsor, who is Australia’s first Indigenous Winter Olympic athlete, has joined KARI Foundation as a proud KARI Ambassador.
Windsor will promote the Foundation’s positive work as well as showcasing Indigenous excellence at an international level.
Windsor and his partner Ekaterina “Katia” Alexandrovskaya compete in figure skating. He says he had no idea he was in line to become the first Indigenous Winter Olympian.
“At first it was a little bit of a surprise and stuff like that. I guess it makes me a little bit honoured to be the first one,” Windsor said.
Windsor is also a role model within the larger community. He is well aware and proud of his Indigenous heritage.
“I’ve always been around that Aboriginal heritage and it makes me who I am. It’s a strong part of my background,” Windsor says.
