The KARI Foundation has recently partnered with leading national food rescue organisation SecondBite. As a result of this partnership, KARI Foundation are able to provide a monthly essentials hamper to elders in our local community.
SecondBite provide fresh fruit, vegetables as well as canned goods and other household items, in order for us to create these hampers that ease the financial stress on our community members. During COVID-19, it is important to ensure the safety of our elders, whilst also maintaining contact with friendly faces from the Community Programs team.
Each month the Community Programs team visits SecondBite to collect a variety of produce and dry goods, pack a hamper for each Elder in the community, and personally deliver them within the week.
“We are very pleased to be able to provide monthly hampers to Elders in our community. We have provided hampers to alleviate financial stress around Christmas time for a number of years, but to be able to provide these hampers monthly is a great achievement. We’re really excited to be working with an organisation like Secondbite to deliver programs like this with such positive outcomes”– Lauren Drayton, Manager Community & Communication
