KARI Foundation are proud to have sponsored the Suncorp Super Netball’s Indigenous Round game between the NSW Swifts and the GWS Giants on Sunday 16th June. Our involvement with Netball NSW continues to grow as the KARI Singers were invited to perform to a crowd of over 10,000 people at Qudos Bank Arena. They sang a stunning rendition of the National Anthem in Darug language, and performed Yothu Yindi’s hits Djapana and World Turning at three-quarter time.
The performances were a great way to celebrate and showcase the beauty of Aboriginal culture. After the performance our social media received an overwhelming amount of support for the KARI Singers and their performance of the National Anthem.
“Hi, I just wanted to pass on a message to say how much I enjoyed the KARI Singers at yesterday’s Swifts/Giants game. It was the most proud and emotional I have felt in a long time hearing the National Anthem.” – Sally
“I’m not Aboriginal myself but I really loved how the National Anthem sounds with the Aboriginal words and then the English. I’ve long admired the NZ National Anthem as it is sung this way. Well done, it was beautiful!”– Nathan
In what was a tight game, the NSW Swifts proved dominant, edging out the GWS Giants 59-54.
