The 28th Annual Mil-Pra AECG Exhibition launched on Saturday 30th November at the Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre. This exhibition celebrates the significance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture in our region.
This year’s exhibition featured an exciting variety of artworks, with different media used, including paintings, ceramics and sculptural pieces by artists of all ages living in both New South Wales and the ACT. Students who participated in our recent Art Workshop with Danielle Mate also had their pieces entered and on display at the exhibition.
This year’s theme for the exhibition was “Hear My Voice”. KARI Foundation is proud to sponsor a number of categories and we congratulate the winners below:
KARI Award (open to adult artists)
- 1st prize – Family Tree – Alison Collins
- 2nd prize – My Voice, My Country – Joeann Tanginoa
Student Awards
- Primary – The Animals and People That Have Passed – Cailyn Iro, Newbridge Heights PS
- Secondary – Spiritual Man – Ghazi El-Sankari, Punchbowl Boys High
Other awards included:
- The Maria Lock Award
- The Liverpool City Council’s Mayor’s Choice Award
- The Bruce and Carol Kendall OAM Memorial Award
- The Kate Nicholas Liverpool Women’s Services Award
- The Family and Early Childhood Art Award
The exhibition is open from the 23rd November 2019 – 25th January 2020.
