The WestConnex Indigenous Driver Program delivered by KARI Foundation is a program that provides assistance to Indigenous youth who are trying to obtain their drivers licence. Starting from the very beginning with their Learner’s Permit and taking them all the way through to obtaining their Provisional Licence, this program has seen many successful applicants.
In particular, our Lead with Culture youth benefit from this program as obtaining their licence provides them with more opportunities for employment as they have their own means of transport.
This month a Lead with Culture participant successfully passed her Provisional driving test. Thanks to her cultural mentor Peta and the free driving lessons provided by the program, she was able to gain the required practice hours required to go for her licence.
This is just one of the many outstanding results from our ongoing partnership with WestConnex.
