A traditional Aboriginal welcome and the KARI singers opened the HSBC New Year business dinner. KARI and HSBC were able to showcase and build our strong partnership to over 1000 in attendance. The event which was held at the Star and sponsored by Emirates, Taylors Clare Valley, the Star and Samsung all donated raffle prizes for the night.
2018 is the year of the Dog. People born in the year of the Dog are loyal and honest, amiable and kind, cautious and prudent. Dogs are known for having a strong sense of loyalty and sincerity. They will do everything for the person they deem most important.
HSBC dedicated the event to the KARI foundation and thanks to the sponsors were able to raise over $21,000.
The night also provided KARI with the opportunity to showcase Aboriginal excellence with our VIP KARI Singers.
During the evening, guests were treated to the lion dance. This is a traditional Chinese dance performed on big occasions for good luck. This is due to the belief that the lion is an auspicious animal.
The Lion Dance is performed in a lion costume and accompanied by the music of beating drums and resounding gongs. The dance aims to imitate a lion’s various movements. There is also martial arts agility demonstrated in the dance.
The night was an excellent way for HSBC and KARI to display a short but powerful video of our partnership with the business community and support the newly funded KARI HSBC LEAD program for Indigenous youth.
